Orange County Restaurant Week

Try Something New During Orange County Restaurant Week

If you’re like me, you probably have your favorite restaurants that you frequent when you’re looking to go out for the evening.  You know that you’ll get a great meal, and you don’t have to worry about spending a lot of money and being disappointed.  Maybe you occasionally take a chance and try some place new through Yelp or Urbanspoon.

The beginning of March is a great time to do a little exploring. A huge group of restaurants are participating in Orange County Restaurant Week.   It runs from March 6th – March 12th.

On their website, you can look up restaurants by cost of the special they’re running.  There are $10, $15, and $20 lunch specials, as well as  $20, $30, $40, and $50 dinner specials.  These are price fixed meals, and the dinners often include an appetizer, at times a soup or salad, an entree, and a dessert.  Lunches are sometimes simpler, with just an entree and dessert; however, others include a starter, entree, and dessert.

The menus are mouthwatering.  For only $10 you could try the following at Issara Thai Cuisine for lunch.:

Chicken or Beef Satay: Grilled marinated chicken or beef with peanut curry sauce and quick cucumber and onion pickles

Khao Soi with Chicken: Egg noodle with braised chicken leg in northern style red curry broth, served with pickle radish, toasted chili paste and fresh vegetable

Sweet Black Sticky Rice and Taro: Traditional Thai dessert slowly stewed with pendant leaves and topped with coconut milk

Sweet Potato Goat Cheese Fritters and  a Peppadew Cheddar Burger

For $30 per person for dinner at GyuKaku Japanese BBQ you get an amazing array of food, including an appetizer, multiple entrees, sides, vegetables, and a dessert.

There are so many restaurants participating in Orange County Restaurant Week, you won’t believe the choices.   This is definitely the time to go outside your normal comfort zone and try a bit of something new.  Both Slapfish and Starfish (two very different restaurants) have me curious, as does the Canaletto Ristorante Veneto

So explore a little, try something new, and enjoy!
